Boundaries

“We’re like a family here.” Sounds warm and cozy.

“We’re like a family here.

”Sounds warm and cozy until it’s used to blur boundaries.

Because sometimes what that really means is:

👉 You’ll answer calls on weekends.

👉 You’ll work late without question.

👉 You’ll stay “loyal,” even when it costs your well-being.

But healthy families — the truly healthy kind — have boundaries.

They respect time, space, and the word “no.”

✅ You can take your vacation.

✅ You can protect your personal time.

✅ You don’t owe 24/7 access.

Workplaces aren’t families. They’re teams.

And great teams win because they support each other without overstepping.

Being kind, friendly, and supportive is beautiful.

But expecting unpaid devotion in the name of “family”?

That’s where it goes wrong.

So next time you hear,“We’re like a family here” — try saying:

“Awesome! I love families that respect boundaries.” 😄
