This is why your team is exhausted

This is why your team is exhausted…

Most of the time, it’s not the workload. It’s the silent expectation to always say yes.

Statements like:

👉 “Can you stay a little late?”

👉 “Mind picking this up real quick?”

👉 “You don’t have to… but the client’s asking for you.”

These don’t feel like questions. They feel like obligations wrapped in politeness. And when every yes is expected, it stops being voluntary. It becomes survival.

Over time, your team stops:

– Feeling safe

– Offering ideas

– Taking initiative

Because if saying “no” feels like a risk, they’ll stop engaging at all.

Real leadership doesn’t just count how often people say yes.

It checks if they feel safe to say no.

If you truly want your team to last, respect their “no” as much as their “yes.”

What’s one way your workplace creates space for consent?
